Building Envelope

Building_EnvelopeBuilding envelope commissioning services involve design review of building enclosure systems (walls, roofs, and foundations) to ensure the air tightness of the enclosure is below the prescribed maximum rates.

As members of the Building Commissioning Association (BCA), our design review (as part of the building enclosure commissioning services or as an independent review not associated with building commissioning) traces the building enclosure to identify penetrations, changes in components, and the continuity of the air barrier.

Our review also includes indications of air sealing.  We observe the installation of air barriers, vapor barriers, and water diversion components (flashing, etc.).  Wall section testing must be completed in order to verify the leakage rate of the wall and roof systems (walls, openings, penetrations, joints, corners, etc).

Testing includes:

  • Insulation
  • Vapor Retarders
  • Dew Point Analysis
  • Infrared Theromgraphy
  • Blower Door Testing
  • Heat & Moisture Analysis
