MILLIPORE CORPORATION - SOLAR PROJECT

The Turner Group provided structural engineering support for the Millipore Solar project.  A complete analysis of the existing structures was performed to determine load capacity and the ability of the existing structure to support the loading from the solar panels.  Turner Group also worked with the solar panel supplier and Millipore to properly locate the panels so the existing structural system of the building was not overstressed, and assisted Millipore during construction to ensure the panels were installed per the contract documents.

Millipore Corporation, a Life Science leader providing technologies, tools and services for bioscience research and biopharmaceutical manufacturing, announced the completion of a $2 million solar panel installation project at its Bedford, Massachusetts facility.  Millipore’s Chairman and CEO Martin Madaus was joined by Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick and other dignitaries at a ribbon-cutting ceremony to unveil the system, which will provide renewable energy for Millipore’s Bedford and Billerica, MA facilities.

Currently the project is the largest commercial solar installation in the state.
