New Addition & New Image

The exterior appearance of the school will be enhanced by the addition of a new classroom wing, new entrance, clock tower, and a new training center to the front of the existing school.  The existing school will be rejuvenated and will compliment the new image.

Training Center

The focal point of this project is a 10,000 sf Training Center used to showcase the Blackstone Valley Regional Vocational Technical High School.  The Training Center will be used for training seminars, robotic competitions, assemblies, sports, etc.  With the use of partitions, it can be divided into six completely separate training areas.

Floor Pattern

With the use of curves and colors, the floor and ceiling design will mimic the Blackstone River.  The virtual river will bring a natural feeling inside.

High Performance Learning Environment

The school will be transformed into a high performance, healthy learning environment for the students and faculty.  With the use of natural light, natural materials, and a displacement ventilation system, the environment of the school will help to make occupants comfortable and promote learning.

Going Green

This Turner Group high performance design saves 35% on energy over MA Energy Code baseline.  Many of the features for energy, atmosphere, materials, resources and indoor environmental quality contribute to these savings.   Once approved, our application to the Massachusetts Technology Collaborative (MTC), will provide for on-site renewable energy.  A 44 kWH solar photovoltaic array will provide over 66,800 kWH per year.  A solar domestic hot water array will provide over 110 million BTU's per year.  Both systems will offset 130 tons of CO2 each year.  These features combine for 14.5 billion source BTU savings, which is a clear indication that Blackstone & its supporting communities are serious about going green.
